Questionnaire results- March 2019
Thank you to all the parents and children who returned the questionnaires. It has been very useful to analyse the feedback and I thought you would be interested in seeing the findings.

I am concerned about the gate at the back of the school We have had the gate checked by the police and Surrey safety team and it meets the requirements so nothing can be done at present. |

Too much too soon The home learning questionnaire sent out recently revealed that 96% parents wanted to keep home learning. |

More frequent SEND meetings. I will feed this back to Mrs Francis - White
Sometimes too much and difficult then to sift through the important messages.
We wanted to send out information in many forms as a few parents find the newsletter too long and prefer text messages.
Sometimes it is difficult to keep up with all the information but I wouldn’t want any less!

Further improvements we could make |
More sports competitions |
We are in the process of joining Active Surrey and we have our first football match against St Ignatius in a few weeks. |
|||||
Alternatives to wet play films |
We can certainly look into this. We already offer art activities as well as a film. Any ideas would be welcome. |
||||||
More feedback on the children’s progress and helpful strategies on how to support your child to improve
|
I will discuss this with the staff ready for the Easter reports.
|
||||||
Please could I come in and join the children for lunch? |
We currently have 2 lunch sittings. We are hoping to get some picnic benches for the summer so packed lunches can eat outside. Then we would have more space in hall. |
||||||
Keen for the children to be offered music lessons |
The children can learn to play an instrument from Year 3 with the Surrey Arts team. |
||||||
Clubs during lunchtimes |
This is difficult as the staff need to have a break and prepare for the afternoon lessons. Hopefully as we get bigger we can open up classrooms at lunchtimes for different activities. |
||||||
A few more after school clubs for Reception and Year 1 children. |
Unfortunately, the club providers set age limits on many of our clubs. We try to offer as wide a range as we can. |
||||||
Ramp onto playground from the back entrance |
This has been explored but as there is a drain in the way it would be very costly to move it or work around it. We are looking at other options. |
||||||
Workshops at the beginning of the year were helpful please could we have some more. |
I will look into what we can offer parents to support the children’s learning. We will be offering a Bug Club refresher session and a maths workshop in the summer term. |
||||||
Remove the traffic light system for attendance/home learning on reports for children with disabilities or serious problems |
This is definitely something that needs looking into for the future. |
||||||
We love Hawkedale! Hawkedale is a fabulous school – we love it! |

Some children hurt my feelings. I am sorry about this we will talk about it in PSHE |
|
8. What could we do to make Hawkedale an even better school? |
More games and jigsaw puzzles
More trains |
We can definitely look into this |
|||||
Make assemblies more exciting with visitors coming in |
I can also look into this too, if anyone has any suggestions please let me know |
||||||
More outdoor learning
Plant more flowers
Put the playing field back |
Yes, this will happen more as the weather gets better.
Miss Osterbery is always planting new flowers as we approach the Spring we will see them blooming.
Unfortunately, the field was often flooded and we were unable to use it. So our only option was to put down porous tarmac. We can now use it all year round. |
||||||
More challenge |
We are looking to change our maths scheme of work to include more challenges for the children – watch this space! |
||||||
Separate desks |
Then we wouldn’t be able to do the lovely group work that we are brilliant at |
||||||
Even more play
Less jumping before lunch |
If we had any more playtime, then we wouldn’t be able to fit in all the exciting topic work we need to do. Jumping before lunchtime is probably better than straight after lunch and good exercise for you.
|
||||||
More equipment for the playground
Playground markings |
We are constantly looking to add more equipment to the playground. The PTA are great at helping to raise funds for the playground and all the pennies for play money will be going to additional resources. |
||||||
An outdoor swimming pool
A giant slide
Ice cream truck |
I would personally love the ice cream truck but unfortunately I don’t think these are things that the school budget can stretch too. |
||||||
Everyone to be kind and helpful To only say nice things to each other |
Yes please, this would be lovely |
||||||
Mums and dads to visit the school
More Mufti days |
Mums and dads visit the school often for assemblies, book looks and exhibitions.
We have quite a lot of mufti days already anymore and we wouldn’t need to wear a uniform |
||||||
More teachers
More subjects
More Geography
More laptops so we don’t have to share |
We have all the teachers we need although as we grow we will need more and more teachers.
I don’t think we can fit any more subjects into our already full week
We already have 12 laptops, 15 tablets and 15 chrome books for the children to use. We update our IT regularly to ensure that we are up to date with technology. |
||||||
More school trips |
Gosh, can we fit any more trips into our school year? Each class has at least 3 trips and 2 workshops each year |
||||||
Make it bigger!
More children |
I am sorry but we cannot get any bigger
We will get 30 more children next year and 30 more the year after. When we are full we will have 210 children! |
||||||
Nicer vegetables at lunch |
I will discuss this with the school cook and see what we can come up with. I am planning to send out a school lunch questionnaire to all parents and children to gauge opinions on school lunches. I have spoken to the catering team and am regularly giving them feedback on quality, portion control and children’s likes and dislikes. |
||||||
Nothing
